Sabunfiction was founded by Zuli Ismail who is a freelance scriptwriter for Malaysia's local television drama series. Normally during a writer's block, she would bake cupcakes.

The thing is, she always writes at night. Midnight snacking is not a really good solution to any creative block. So she desperately tried to find other solutions, to kick off her baking and snacking habits.

At the same time, she's been saving all her used cooking oil, hoping she would be able to sell it. She refused to throw it away because she wanted a better world for her children. She knows that the waste will end up in the ocean.

One day she researched if there's a better way for her to handle her used cooking oil. That's when she found out about soapmaking.

Yup, her first soap bar was made from used cooking oil, which she used happily to wash her dishes and laundry. Then it branched out to other soaps for facial,  body and of course for her children.

Oh don't worry, she uses high premium oils for the body. It becomes an expensive hobby and a few months later, she started to sell it. It was an instant hit, paving the way for Sabunfiction's establishment.

  You could literally eat a huge majority of our natural ingredients, (but better not because it probably doesn’t taste nice!).
