CARE & SHELF LIFE

  • Cold process soaps are softer than commercial soaps because they retain their natural glycerine, a natural by-product of soap-making.
  • Do not store unopened soap in a damp place.
  • It's normal our soap and its packaging may become damp due to high glycerine content.
  • A bar will usually last about  two years.
HOW TO USE
  • To preserve the life of your soap, store in a dry area and allow to drain after use.

Why is handmade soap better than store bought?

Store bought soaps contain detergents and tend to be extremely drying and irritating to the skin. Normally it's because they use synthetic detergent, while handmade soap use real oils for soapmaking, which the helps to moisture and protect the skin. Can read about it here, but it's in manglish.

How long will my bar of handmade soap last?

On average, each bar will last about a month with daily use. Remember to use a draining soap dish which will prevent soggy soap and will maximise its life span.

What is the difference between essential oil and fragrance oil?
Essential oils are purely extracted from their source and have therapeutic effects. Fragrance oils are synthetically created. Most of our soaps are scented with essentials oil unless stated otherwise.

What if my soap has imperfections and different from each batch and bars?
Handcrafted soap is processed and cut by hand; thus no two bars will exactly alike. Temperature can make color appear slightly different from batch to batch, while design may also vary. Small pockets of air may form from a thick batter being poured. You may also witness “soda ash” which is a harmless powder-like substance that forms when new soap meets air or has a rapid drop in temperature. This will completely disappear during the soap’s first use.

Why is lye used in handmade soap?
All soaps are saponified using sodium hydroxide (lye). However, there is no lye in the final bar of soap as it gets consumed during the saponification process. It isn’t possible to make any soap (be it handmade or commercial) without lye, and if someone tells you otherwise, they are either misinformed.

Why does it melt so quickly?
Glycerine makes our soaps softer than commercial soaps. It draws moisture out of the atmosphere to itself to leave your skin feeling incredibly smooth. This property of glycerine results in beads of water on the soap surface, a phenomenon called ‘sweating.’ Sweating is a sign of a good, moisturizing soap.
